General Information
Power stations, co-generation facilities and cement plants often use wet scrubbing processes for the desulfurization of their flue gases. These systems generate large quantities of gypsum slurry. Separating this gypsum by-product in our vertical centrifuges allows the scrubber liquid to be recycled and the recovered gypsum to be used by the construction industry as a filler material or to make wallboard.
Over 400 Krauss-Maffei Vertical Centrifuges are in operation for this application, proving their performance around the clock even under the most severe conditions.

- Reduced Operation and Maintenance Costs.
Centrifuges require less operating power than vacuum pumps of belt filter installations. The robust design and extended maintenance ranges reduce the servicing costs. - Less power consumption
The gypsum is dewatered by centrifugal force resulting in a lower residual moisture compared to belt filters. Therefore lots of energy can be saved at the further drying of the gypsum. A by-product becomes a resource for the building industry. - Minimal installation space

Even at unavoidable variations in the process, centrifuges offer sound results in terms of residual moisture and throughput. Belt filters drop off significantly in performance and provide unacceptable moisture contents.
