In the fine chemicals industry it is necessary to dewater regularly changing quantities of product in a fast and easy manner. For this purpose, easy to handle and flexible solutions are required and the tasks put to the solids-liquid separation are less complex. This is just the field for which the new single-layer pressure or vacuum filter has been developed. The equipment is first and foremost of a simple and practical design. This makes it possible to provide a comparatively low-cost investment.
Function:
The suspension to be filtered is fed to the filter. The driving force is the pressure difference between the infeed of the suspension and the discharge of the filtrate. This can either be implemented by building up gauge pressure above the product or by means of a vacuum at the filtrate discharge.
The vessel can be heated to avoid crystallization of the product during filtration.
Different filter media can be used, depending on the respective application (e.g. metal, plastics, textile or combinations).
Advantages:
- The operation and cleaning of the equipment are extremely easy, there are only a few installed parts in the process area. This makes the area open to inspection and provides hardly any possibilities for the product to deposit.
- Comparatively low costs are incurred with the procurement of this equipment. It is of a simple and expedient design.
- The equipment is flexible in use. Simple filtration processes can be carried out quickly and reliably. The equipment is mounted on rollers and can therefore be used as mobile equipment. It can be transported within the plant and directly connected to the reactor system.
